The 251 829 331 A Strut is Standard Duty strength. Originally for models left & right that don't have a Rear Wiper Assembly (these are a bit "weighty"). So if yer running a bike rack, I wouldn't use these 'cause it won't stay up (personal experience)

The 251 829 331 B is the weakest one and is mounted on the LEFT side only. This allows the Hatch to stay partially open when used with..

The 251 829 332 is the strong, heavy duty type, usually just mounted on the RIGHT side so that the Hatch can be left partially open AND withstand the weight of the Rear Wiper Assembly. However, if yer gonna be running a bike rack, I strongly recommend running this Left and Right.

I I've been using two "332s" for the past 10 years with really no problems and it doesn't "fly up" on me that I've noticed, but then I've always held the Hatch edge firmly when opening it up. Closing it when I don't have the bike rack attached is just a little tough, at least I don't think so difficult given my upper body and arm strength has diminished since my open heart 4 way 6 1/2 years ago and the daily heart meds. Personally I love 'em. -- Jim Thompson 84 GL 1.9 "Gloria" 84 Westfalia 2.1 "Ole Putt" 72 411 Station Wagon "Pug" oldvolkshome@gmail.com http://www.oldvolkshome.com *********************************** On Sat, Jul 25, 2009 at 3:35 PM, Edward Maglott < emaglott@buncombe.main.nc.us> wrote:
