Melissa,

Glad you are back. One thing I want to warn you about and that is DO NOT use your AC with the freon low in your van. The early Vanagons (up to 86) have no low freon cut off switch for the compressor. That means if you turn on the AC just to use the fan the compressor will also come on. This can cause the compressor to lock up, throw the belt and take the water pump belt along with it. I know this from personal experience and it almost cost us a motor when a lady did this to keep her dog cool while renting one of my sister's Westies. Just FYI. Now if you had an 87-91 Vanagon these do have the pressure switch in the refrigerant line which will not allow the compressor to come on when the freon is low. It is idiot proof in that way and probably because they got complaints like the problem we had with our 86 Westy. I hope you enjoy the van and if you need any help or parts please consider us.

Good to have you back!
