Where did I claim it to be authoritative? I presented it as an example of usage. Wikipedia was simply the first Google hit appropos to the usage.

If you want authoritative, there's the American Heritage Dictionary:

liquid glass –noun sodium silicate. - http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/liquid%20glass

Or, if you want both an authoritative reference and an example of non-US usage, here's from a manufacturer's site in India: "Sodium Silicate Solution Also known as water glass or liquid glass..." - http://www.krishnaphoschem.com/sodium-silicate-solution.html
