Tobin, you'll hear different opinions on this. My own is that a fan made for the purpose is a far superior replacement to any form of little box fan. The original fan draws around sixty milliamps (.06 amps) and so does the superior replacement fan from Fridge-Mate, available from online RV places. It comes with a built-on thermoswitch which you should discard (it's meant to be placed in the uptake above the fridge and the thermoswitch is set accordingly), and a nice length of wire and a pretty switch that you can use for something else. You can easily modify the original bracket to fit it -- look on my website for a drawing. It's as quiet or quieter than the original, and moves more air (I think). The fan is a bit larger, so make sure of clearance behind the fridge before you nail everything down.
