This is cute.
it's a great engine conversion I am sure.
a few amusing things here :
"NO Air Flow Boxes to flutter, hesitate or stall "
I'm thinking the Bostig conversion doesn't have an Air Box for the air
filter ? .......it must have one.
then I realize 'air flow boxes' is meant to be Air Flow Meter.
yes, an air flow meter is always old technology, and all new engines that
measure airflow in the air intake tract now use an Air Mass Meter,
which the Bostig might have. Vast improvement over an air flow meter, in
all cases. Some mdoern engines don't have an air mass meter either though,
and just use a map sensor. I prefer an air flow measuring device in the air
intake tract myself.........seems like a more natual way to do it. I suspect
that a MAP is used in some systems just to save money or having an Air Mass
Meter.
"NO Coolant Tower or Crankcase Towers to break - leaving you stranded'
Coolant Tower ...........??
for sure waterbxer vanagons have many, many cooling system parts, and they
can be problematic ............and the 86 and later ones have a lot of
Plastic cooling system parts.
Mabye the 'tower' is the Plastic Coolant Distrubtor........ a tower like
thing hidden on the forward side of the fire wall in all 86 and later 2WD
vanagons........and they crumble and break for sure.
in any engine conversion .......that part is removed.
But sure.........from what I can gather .........quite a good engine
conversion.
Would love to do one for someone, if they'll let me - lol !
