Hi Stephen, The rear-view mirror you seek is the early bay mirror. My buddy Adam has one on his 68 westy. Not sure precisely when the longer stalk-ed mirror was discontinued but I can say the 1968 model is much longer than what I have seen on 72-and-laters that I have owned. It only cost me $5 so I experimented with it by cutting it in the middle of the stalk, drilling holes in each part, screwing in a 4-inch-long piece of allthread with a broomstick sleeve and tried it. You see the result; it could be classier and finished better but it works. > > Stephen > > --- On Wed, 7/29/09, Rocket J Squirrel <camping.elliott@GMAIL.COM> wrote: > > From: Rocket J Squirrel <camping.elliott@GMAIL.COM> > Subject: Re: Trip report: Pilgrimage to Pulaski (vanagon intensive with pix...longish) > To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM > Date: Wednesday, July 29, 2009, 7:24 PM > > What be this "extended-stalk rearview mirror" of which you speak? |
