As a first step, I find that I need to replace all the hoses (main hoses leaking in several places) [all other components appear to be working fine]. I have a quote for rebuild of the 4 main hoses for ~$300 (I pull & reinstall). Does this seem reasonable, or does anyone know of somewhere in the SF area that would do this for less? > Thanks, > Mike > '87 Westy > I don't know about the Bay area, but I replaced all of mine last year here in Phoenix. Total cost for the hoses and new fittings was ~$150 from Arizona Mobile Air (www.ackits.com). I paid $300 total for hoses, a new receiver/drier, new condenser and condenser brackets, and new hi/low pressure switch with fitting, new expansion valve, and the conversion fittings (R-12 to R-134A) for my R-12 gauges. You can check their site, but last year it was basically $4-5 per fitting, $2/ft for barrier hose, and they charged $75 labor ( for fabrication of hoses & brackets, pressure test the evap and install the TX valve).
