Subject: rear brake shims
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

I replacing rear brakes and I ordered some 1 and .5 mm shims from McMaster Carr that are used to gain better contact between the shoe and the drum. I think I am to use about 3mm on each side. However, I'm not certain where I'm supposed to be putting the shims. At the bottom of the brake there is an open v-shaped piece that seems the logical place. However, the shims do not want to fit over the slotted pieces. The shims are the ones recommended by Dennis Haynes. Anyone know how to get these things in place?

Thanks in advance,

Warren in Santa Fe
