Joy, the primary idea is to make it easy to lift the rear table up and then lock it in place to allow easy access to the two storage areas under the rear table when camped. Another (additional) solution for access to the closet is to reverse the two table, put the short table in back and the longer table up front. This allows the closet door to open even when the table in the rear is raised. That's the configuration I've been using for years now, tables reversed and a guide rod in the support for the rear table so it can be locked up when camped. I've also (just last week) removed the covers/lids on the storage compartments because with the lids up the rear table won't push back all the way against the wall and I can't raise or lower the bed. I don't know if I'll leave them off, further experience will tell.
