You may have the blue wire attached to the wrong place. There are some
other small studs that hold the case together but are not right for the
blue wire. If you attach it to one of these other posts, the dash led
will come on and stay on and charging will not occur. This may be
complicated by the fact that on some alternators the blue wire must
attach instead to a flat spade sticking out near the red wire post. The
blue wire must go to an exact spot, either a small threaded post right
near the the red wire post or to a male spade near the red wire post. If
you can take a photo and send it to me I can tell which version of the
alternator you have and tell you where the blue wire goes.
The other thing is, you need 2 screws holding the regulator pack in
place. One of the screws makes an electrical connection between the
regulator and the alternator itself.
