Subject: Idiots for Clunkers..guy scraps 86 westy in new goverment program
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"
I work in the service dept. at a Honda dealership and am watching the
"clunkers" come in and have their engines euthanized daily. Someone thought that
it was humorous to suggest writing clunker on my 90 Westy's windshield.
Talk about getting my dander up!!!! There is just something that is wasteful
on so many levels about this program. I can't bear to watch the engines
being destroyed no matter what make or model. To a gearhead like me it's about
as pleasant as going to the SPCA to watch puppies being euthanized
(because I love dogs more than I love most people-please don't misunderstand the
analogy here). The point being that most who have never experienced the
magic of our vehicles will never understand our passion for keeping them on the
road. I tried to explain the "magic" of a Westy and that is was an
investment as well as an intoxicating dream machine and reality escape pod. When I
showed several co-workers the vehicles like mine for sale on the GoWesty
site the collective sounds of jaws dropping was priceless. They still think
that I'm nuts though.
