The vans only came with one length of rear stud.
the way VW was able to use a  thicker alloy wheel on the 'short for steel
wheels' was clever.....
their cone shaped lug nuts reach down further into the wheel, and grabs a
few more threads that way, thus they get away with 'thick wheel on short
studs' that way.

I don't know if SA 15 alloys need cone face or ball face nuts, but you need
the right type for sure.  No mixing those up.
It's normal to need longer rear studs for thicker alloy wheels.
Same for front I'd imagine.
there's a guy on ebay I think that specializes in nothing but studs and nuts
and wheel mounting bolts.
shoot, thought I'd have a link for you ..., but guess not.
