Charlie Wing of Boatowners/VanagonOwners Illustrated handbook of wiring says that for a 10' run you'll need 8AWG for a 3% voltage drop but if you can handle a 10% drop then 14AWG will do. (40A).

Wing, Charlie, pp 108-112 (ISBN 0-07-071092-9) 1993 edition (DC hasn't changed much over the interim)
