So....just as I thought, this one week of use story was a pure figment of someone's very inadequate imagination. You have reached the same results as I have with my WACO fridge. OVERNIGHT for sure if you have a fully charged battery going into the night and do not have other excessive loads on that battery during the night or whenever the battery is not being charged by either solar, electric or the alternator. Then as Mark stated you need a way to charge that battery back up PLUS run whatever loads are on that battery so that you can repeat the same cycle of events the next night. Easier said than done. Mexico's West coast beaches offer the most reliable sunshine with camping I know about and solar charging just and I mean JUST works there, IF I remember to set the fridge at it's lowest temp setting before the sun goes down and do not play the music all night and keep all the LED lights on all night, and do not watch movies all night etc, etc, etc. More batteries and better chargers are what's needed. Mark, your approach, is good. I never thought about that small but useful trick. I WILL be doing some rewiring before the next sojourn to Mexico. My Solar set up is correctly wired to charge my aux battery BUT my alternator is not I see now. Thanks !
