Did the hatch problem appear right after you unhooked the front door mechanism? If so, that is likely related to your problem.

The rear hatch central locking mechanism locks/unlocks with signals from the front door units.

And you tried the hatch with central locking manual over-ride method?

(turn the hatch key far far right, about 2 o'clock then press hatch button with key in?)
