But what I am after is more like a (thick) plastic film that protects
the paint on the outside and underneath the arch from stones flicked
up by the front wheels.  The one remaining on my vehicle is clear and
is probably less than 0.5mm thick, about 250mm long and about 30mm
wide all up.  It covers only the lowere front portion of the arch and
is really a piece of hard, thick, stick-on film.  In Australia we have
a material called "Contact", an adhesive plastic film for covering
books etc.  The plastic on my van is sort of like a "military grade"
of this type of material, but MAY have been molded originally to the
shape of the arch, not just part of a sheet of film.
