"FYI....the cable from the alternator to the starter (which I believe goes to the battery) has power, as I accidentally arched it on the alternator." Makes me wonder if in doing that you burned up the voltage regulator?

Are you measuring output of the alt at the alt red cable stud?

The ground cone under the dash are notoriously rusty at the connecting point and worth replacing.
