I have rust at the lower left corner of the windshield that goes all the way throught the metal. Is there any access to this area from the back side? From previous dash removals, I don't remember seeing a way through the dash. Some photos: http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/IQNM8X9AGIeroEErxFo8vw?feat=directlink http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/X9FTUbwtbrdx5ai4h1CD-w?feat=directlink I needed to replace my cracked windshield to pass the New Hampshire state safety inspection. I don't want to replace the glass without fixing this first. Any suggestions for inexpensive DIY repairs? This is the only rust spot in the windshield channel, but the seams that run vertically below the windshield corners show signs of rust beneath the caulking. I'm thinking of cleaning out the rust with a wire wheel, treating with rust converter, patching the hole with JB Weld (or something similar) and painting with POR-15 or Rustoleum. -- Michael Snow 1982 Westfalia 1.9TD http://slowmachine82.blogspot.com/ |
