I can't remember which way to turn the adjuster either - BUT the drum will probably be tight as Dick's hat band anyway. If after you have figured out how to loosen up the brakes - and the drum still won't come off - use G.M Bully's 200 tap routine. It works. Tap on the outer edged of the drum, tapping from the outside edge toward the spindle going around and around. 200 times will do the trick. Should loosen.
