Me? I'd get out the voltmeter and measure voltage at the big terminal on the front (FIF) if the alternator. GT 13.8 VDC motor running I'd look for wiring issues. LT 13.8 VDC I'd be looking for an alternator. There are a few other things that one can look at, but that's the quick and dirty.

If you have decent soldering skills, it probably just needs brushes. About $3 at NAPA. Get two sets. They ALWAYS fail on Sunday. Always.
