Subject: "Whiney" P/S Rack
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Hi All,

Over the weekend, I replaced the high pressure hose on my 87's power steering pump. Refilled the reservoir, started it up and noticed a "whine" coming from the P/S rack. I jacked up the front end to take the load off the steering system and turned the wheel back and forth for 5 minutes and the noise seemed to decrease. However, the whine is still there, although not as loud.

The P/S rack was replaced 2 summers ago. Prior to installing the new hose, the rack didn't make any noise.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Ric
