MIG welder, right here in the shop, use it almost every day, no problem. BUT grinding down the welds in the area of the windshield corners where NEW metal is needed is not fun and does not work as well as the POR-15 and Fiberglas method. So you just welded in a small quarter sized piece of NEW metal to fill in the missing metal in the corner of the windshield frame. The heat from welding just burned off all the paint and undercoating on the inside of the frame where you can't see. What do you do about that now ? Well, I know how most deal with it, they forget about it until the customer is back with rust bubbling out from under the windshield rubber. NOW what do you do ? Fix it for free, make him pay again ? My method has no come backs, not yet anyways. Maybe before I retire I'll see one.

>>>>>>Ok, so I'm not the only one who raised an eyebrow at that comment. Not ganging up on you Frank, I think you do great work... While the techniques mentioned are interesting, a decent MIG setup is really pretty cheap considering what a useful tool it is. I couldn't function without mine. And yeah, I prefer to replace metal with metal too.<<<<<<<
