Keith, the pump is an in the tank model which only the USA vans had. These pumps are not made to come apart and be put back together. If it is apart then it is broken and needs to be replaced. Probably got frozen especially in your neck of the woods. I have them in stock, see my _Vanagon New Parts_ (http://frankcondelli.com/sales.htm) webpage, under the "Westfalia Camper Parts" heading. The are just connected to the water line and to 12v electric and sit in the bottom of the tank, not connected to anything else.
