If the line is full of air, the stove burner orifice will get the common part of the line filled with LP much faster than the fridge orifice. Only the common part, unfortunately. I recently installed a natural-gas-fired hot-water heater at home and had to set a weight on the pilot knob for half an hour before it would light.

Your mileage may vary widely :-)

I hate to tell you...the fridge has no idea whatsoever that you're doing this. The thermostat is either on (cooling flame) or off (pilot flame) and that's all it knows. It's probably easier to light the cooling flame than the pilot. You can feel the click in the knob as it switches between the two. Full on is always cooling; full off is always pilot.
