And yes, I converted my Westy to a Jetta 2.0 I4 (ABA). The diesels have the starter battery in the engine bay AFAIK. I was especially curious about using this Interstate battery in the driver side battery box as I thought this box might be a different dimension than passenger side. Also read one email speculating about slight difference in dimension between the group 41 and this Interstate battery causing fit problems. Neil.
