Yup. Those Phillips are just asking for "trouble". Personally I gave them each a good whack before removing. It's possible I used ViceGrips with the screwdriver. Just don't recall. If I'd been thinking, I would have gotten a proper sized Phillips bit and used that with a socket and 3/8" drive ratchet. I'll bet some people have stripped the heads using the wrong sized Phillips screwdriver. (The same type that are located on the tin of air cooled engines IIRC)
