I didn't have any shudder, noise, abrupt event ... just deceleration while in 4th gear at about 40-45 and I couldn't shift it at all either.Turned out to be the 4th gear ... I still have it for a paper weight. It cracked into 2 pieces, an inner and outer so it was a circular fracture all the way around. You may have the same thing? Not so sure it's a weakness so much as one of those things that happens with time and wear. I fortunately have an excellent shop and they took the tranny out, Daryl of aatransaxle.com sent a box and he's the one that rebuilt the tranny. As always he did his usual superlative job. bob '87 Syncro Westy On Sun, Aug 16, 2009 at 3:31 PM, Anthony Egeln <regnsuzanne@yahoo.com>wrote: > Well, I had a catastrophic something failure a little while ago.... > > Driving down the road at 45 mph, and suddenly the car shakes like it went > over a pile of rocks. > > Then it smoothed out and I went another 1/4 and tried to shift and couldn't > shift.
