I've put a a good 300 lbs on two load bars with the high rise towers and had no problem. Did it many times. Without the towers it will be more stable, but you have better chances of scratching the roof and mounting will be more difficult due to clearance between roof and rack. This will also make it more of a pain to sling straps under there when you need to. I don't know what the gutter mounted Yakima is rated for. You should ck with them. Then do a good, real world estimate of what weight you will actually carry up there. If memory serves me, I think the double, gutter mounted load bars are good for 250lbs...but memory rarely serves me! Miguel
