We were just at a place like that for a week in Eagle, AK. Trip report to follow with details. We had our credit cards with us but only used them for fuel and supplies to get there and back. After Eagle flooded this Spring there is no place to use them anyway. There were more than four stars...... in the sky,......... when it was not cloudy and/or raining. We did not have solar panels with us, we do not own any as even though this is the "Land of the Midnight Sun" it is not always present, we did see some however. Do not recall seeing any windmills, there were some fishwheels which are similar in some respects. We think of our 800 weight goosedown sleeping bags as large comforters. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner were provided.......in the Mess hall that is, flavor, quantity, and quality varied. Even had free lukewarm showers available over at the school a few blocks away. You only need to bring a platinum credit card of some kind and stay only in places rated with 4 stars or more. No solar panels, windmills, or even sleeping bags.
