Mine is the same. It's the best system I've seen yet, to prevent gascap loss. Incidentally, the VW key guy at the last show was cutting me a new key and told me that VW never made a gascap that used the ignition/ door key; it was 'always' a smaller, different key. I told him he's wrong about that, but he refused to believe me. He thinks it can't be a original gascap, but mine definitely is. Between the two of us (and more?), I wonder if he can be convinced otherwise?

.... my gas cap key IS my ignition key. I've tried but the key won't fit into the ignition while it's in the gas cap .... and the gas cap won't go back onto the filler spout unless the key is in it, and then locked to remove the key. All very well, and SIMPLY thought out by "them". bob
