Subject: '81 Westy Aux. Battery Box Measurements
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Hi all.

Here's what I measured at/near bottom of box on my Canadian '81 Westy.

Width at bottom: 7.25"

Length at bottom: 12.25"

Height: 7"

Personally I would size a battery at less than these figures.

W&L of box is narrower at bottom. This may account for some possible confusion when sizing a battery. Posted this for a possible "why" behind this.

Pic showing "bumps" accounting for dim. difference at/near bottom portion of box. Of interest to me, was the sloping bit at front of box. Didn't notice that right away.

Bottom line: measure box at bottom!

Hope this helps.

Neil.

P.S. Box rust due to my own newb ignorance.... thought damage I did to my battery 3.5 years ago would not manifest into an actual hole!
