RE: Gas Caps And here is another '90 Westy with the ignition key that opens the gas cap. Looks like there are a variety of combinations out there, some stock, some not. As for the Oregon 'gas monkey' problem, that's simple. The legislature created jobs for their errant nephews that they would otherwise have to support. (Ducking from those that worked their way through school pumping gas in Oregon). My solution when gassing up in Oregon is simple. I remove and replace the gas cap myself, never let the attendant get their hands on it. And also remember that there are two exceptions to the Oregon law, 'Vintage' vehicles and diesel. If you are driving either you can pump your own fuel. And in the case of diesels pumping your own may avoid problems, just ask Susan Dolvin about that over on the WetWesties list. Her daily driver is a New Beetle diesel and she got a tank full of gasoline a couple of years ago, cost the gas station a bundle by the time the dealer got it running right again.
