I guess when one puts real life use into the equation, a used battery may not be worth the time. (oh yah. I've left the parking lights on overnight.... ;) But.....

The plan was to install a reconditioned battery as an aux battery. But....

Real life. It doth happen. I'm sure I could find a way to run the aux battery too low!
