The van has its own supplies which stay with it. Backpacking, kayak camping, etc, has different gear requirements and their items reside in the garage. Some items do cross over and they have a seperate but adjacent location in the garage. The plus to having the vans gear kept in it is that it covers much of what we should have stored outside the house for post earthquake emergencies.
