I was thinking about these devices recently during a long drive before I increased the seat travel in my Westy. Right leg cramps made me recall an old neighbor who had one of these in his car (Studebaker, to give you an idea), but much less elaborate than this one. Basically, it was an L-shaped rod that clamped to the base of the gas pedal, the long arm of the L rested on the floor and the short arm of the L rose on the left side of the clutch pedal. You might be able to make a primitive version out of a lug wrench and a bracket of some sort, but it would not be as adjustable as the one you linked to. That's where the big bucks enter the picture.
