Google Quaife sequential gearboxes or cut and paste some of this mess below. I looked into getting a sequential gearbox for my Porsche 928 racecar but the Quaifes, which are used by many race teams, weren't rated to handle the torque my motor was putting out.. What you need, if you want a really 'unlimited Vanagon' is to just transplant the whole driveline from a RUF Carrera 4 based P-car. You can get the donor for around a measly $200k...But you might have a problem getting it 'smogged' in California...
