Subject: Aux. Battery Hold Down Clamp? (PIC)
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Hi all.

Made this (small file size):

to hold down new aux battery. I'll also put a piece of wood between battery end and box.

I "adjusted" with washers under bolt (arrow) so not too tight. But since that's hard to gauge....

Is this a bad design? i.e. Puts undue pressure on battery case? Should battery only be held down with some kind of clamp installed at bolt hole (where bolt is shown in pic) and "lip" at side of battery?

My Westy didn't c/w any clamps on starter battery. Looks aux battery would use same type. Just not sure what stock configuration should be.

Neil.
