Having been away from SoCal for fifteen years, I returned last week. Driving Folly ('84 wasserboxer Adventurewagen(Vanagon content)) through 5 pm LA traffic reminded me that LA drivers are the best in the world. (And it's amazing how fast the skill set comes back to you.)
