I spent probably 10 hours installing my Atwood, part of which involved gluing plastic laminate to the trim piece and adding T-molding, rounding the corners to make it look good, and notching around the top metal rail, cutting two new outlets, etc. Depending on where you locate the Atwood, it will require a half to three quarters of an inch add'l space. The lower it goes in the cabinet the more it protrudes, as the side of the van curves more at the bottom. Precise measurements are absolutely critical for the Atwood. It needs to go straight in for example and if you get off measurement while locating the chimney you can really get yourself in trouble. The furnace will then no longer sit flush with the front of the cabinet. It's a tricky install, but I'm very happy with mine. Basically it consumes most of the lower cabinet. I can't say that I have really missed the storage space that much. A much better solution in my opinion is to build a box and put behind the passenger seat. This doubles as a place to sit and rest your feet and can be moved outside if necessary. If you have the dollars, the propex in my opinion is definitely the way to go as it is tons easier to install. I got my brand-new Atwood for under $300 and the parts are easily serviceable through the front of the unit. It uses about 1.8 amps per hour when running. You can see a picture of my install on Karl's Site, along with my Vitrifrigo with drawer above. I probably have a good 16 hours wrapped up between the two, but love em both!

<<Mark, check out the photo of the Atwood install on Karl's site. There is a very clear picture there. It just sticks out further (I believe 1.5"), but this is not an issue if installing between fridge and rear seat.....plus you save significant $s. Miguel>>
