I can stick the snout of a standard garden hose an inch or so down the filler opening on my 84. Far enough for it to stay put, but not when there is a lot of water pressure -- then it pops out soaking everyone and everything in sight.

I normally fill the tank through the filler with a smaller diameter hose, about 1/2'', some blue stuff that is designed for drinking water. I have about 50' of it curled up in a bag that goes with the van. The other end of the hose has a standard fitting for a hose bibb, as well as one of those rubber "water thief" things* that let you fit it over an unthreaded water faucet. Come to think of it, that hose doesn't get very far down the filler, either. Not sure if there's some screen in the way, or just the corrugations and the bends that block it.

The reason I use that blue hose is that I prefer filling up the tank at the campground (if water is available), rather than hauling water across the landscape.** And 50' of that tubing takes up a lot less space than an equivalent chunk of garden hose.

** "Why not?" you ask. Look, we've had this discussion before. Shut up he explained. For ten points, who penned that last line? Deduct ten points if you used the Google or other search engine to find out.
