If you were in snow country I'd suggest the Nokian's (they are still good tires, but you might not need their winter capabilities in Sacremento. The Vredestein Comtrac (a "summer" tire) is very quiet and durable, but not appropriate for off road use. If you do go up into the mountains during the winter season, the Nokian's or Continental's are the way to go.
