Not in some twenty years, and if I ever go back to TX it'll be way too soon. So naturally all the Texans on the list are gonna pee in my Cheerioats now, but whatever. I'm baffled that other folks have supported your observation; I must be going to LA on the non-polite days or something.

I've driven on LA freeways at three in the morning that were completely deserted, even a little foggy. Very cool, like being in a movie. Then there was the last time I went down to see my Cardiologist; I left early enough to allow a 2-1/2 hour buffer and still didn't make the appointment because of traffic (this was heading into town at around 2:30 pm). Should've been cake, but people were gawking at the helicopters taking water to a fire. Seriously.

Cya, Robert

Have you actually driven in Houston, The Dallas-Ft. Worth to San Antonio corridor, or in the "Metroplex"? I do regularly, and I guarantee, no one can compare LA to it for idiocy behind the wheel. And each time I've driven in the metro areas in California, I have remarked at the comparatively sane behavior of the drivers compared to those in this part of the country. Dense traffic, at any time of day or night? LA is awful. But drivers are more respectful of others than here -- at least in my experience.
