It's been a long time since I've had the components apart, but I'd say the problem is in the check valve behind the city water hookup and not with your faucet. Take the time to pull the multi-part brass apparatus and take it apart and clean it thoroughly. You probably won't need to buy anything. Maybe the spring has broken, but it's probably just crud.
