Definitely not some arcane warning. Anything that shut off power to the panel (ign switch) even very briefly would institute another blink cycle. Anything that made the panel regulator go out of regulation (heavy draw and/or poor high-current connection somewhere) would make it blink continuously until the voltage came back up into spec.

I'se be suspecting the "ignition" switch.
