I heard two stories from two separate parts guys behind the counter at my local VW dealer on separate days, while looking for separate NLA parts. In one case we were looking for a part that was NLA, and they found there were two of them in Los Angeles, and could quote me the price on them and the time frame possibly to get them if I special ordered. This story I believe. The other time, I was told that VW of America requests that NLA parts be sent back to a "warehouse of warehouses" supposedly in the Northeast somewhere. At some time, this warehouse sends shipments of NLA parts back to Germany. I asked what then, and he said he didn't know but presumed for destruction. This story I have a hard time believing, as there's no money in it. But, you can get a lot of dumb stories from parts guys.
