is it 'just a GL" or is it a "1991 Westphalia GL" ?
that's a westy in my book.
and a 91 westy needing mainly an engine .......
and stored indoors for 8 years......
if mice or mold didn't get to it, and 'very good body' hopefully means no
rust particularly.
about 130K miles on it - that's not bad at all. Though what 'some people'
can do, or fail to do, to a van in 130K miles.....
sometimes that gets discouraging. On all the ones I pick up cheap
..........they almost are all terribly neglected when I get them, like I'm
the first person in decades to ever clean anything, lube any mechanism
...........on my 85 Wolfsburg Weekender - it had the original white WV-Audi
battery for an aux batter under the driver's seat. I am likely the first
person to lay eyes on that battery since germany in 1985 .......it was sure
cooked dry and fried. I doubt any owner or shop working on it ever knew
there was a 2n battery under that screwed down cover.
This is the kind of thing I find on bargain priced and 'dead' vanagons -
this one could be great, or it could be 'who knows what.'
But if it's decent......a big 'if' there , it's worth a grand I'd say. It
'all depends' of course. Nothing makes me suspect a vehicle has had no
service or maintenance more than hearing ' I haven't had to do anything to
that van for years and years ! "
that tells you they 'just drive it' and they fix things when something
breaks.
which costs more, than service, and it means that when one thing finally
failed, and got fixed, there are still 8 other systems not getting serviced
or maintained,
also ...........color.
Seems that color doesn't register too high up the scale for many people. I
can't even think about it, or slightly envision it without knowing what
color it is.
you know - 'what', what year, how much, WHERE, and color, and miles total on
the body.
and boy do pictures make a difference.
Almost like it doesn't exist if there isn't a picture of it to see.
anyway .....good chance it could be a great westy for some enterprising
individual.
it's not in Oregon is it ?
lol.
