Hi Roland,
It's Labour day weekend here in Canada; I spent today working in my
driveway reinstalling the engine into my 87 wolfsburg. It overheated a
few weeks ago on the way home from Buses Of The Corn; melted the
thermostat housing and cracked at least one of the heads. luckily I had
a "spare" 1.9L longblock which only needed new headgaskets installed
before swapping over the 2.1 cooling and FI parts from the melted motor.
So far, so good. By about 7PM tonight I had it running. It needs a
little tweaking still to plug some exhaust leaks and set the timing, but
it's coming along pretty well.
There is no way it could have happened without the wealth of info I have
absorbed from this community and the assistance of its vendors.
Happy Trails,
Greg Potts
