I'm in Richmond.  I ran into a fellow a few weeks back (I saw a red Syncro in his driveway and stopped to chat) who used to be service manager at a local VW dealer.  He personally trained a fellow named Byron who is now at Brown's VW in Richmond and highly recommends him as the Vanagon mechanic to seek out.  I have no personal acquaintance with him.   However, for the rust repair I'd think any competent body guy could do it.  We've had good results on non-Vanagons (collision, not rust repair) with Berling Auto Body off Chamberlayne Avenue.   Stephen

All the talk about fixing rust on Vanagons got me thinking more about my poor, neglected van.  Does anybody on the list know of someone in the central Virginia area that is familiar with our beloved vehicles and does the kind of repairs of which Zolly speaks below?

Thanks, Marc Perdue
