Sounds like a core. Are the exterternal cases in good condition? Where are you located? dylan   ________________________________ From: Mike Frost <wasserleaker@GMAIL.COM> To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Sent: Sunday, September 6, 2009 3:07:39 PM Subject: 091 Tranny Value Hi all, I recently changed out my 091 transmission which is, of course, a tale of misery and joy like all DIY jobs. Snagged a tranny at the u-pull-it for $25!! (probably got a sympathy discount since I did it over two VERY cold days). I had no idea what condition it was in. I originally planned to tear it open and look around to make sure it was OK but was quickly stopped by the cost of special tools and parts. So, I decided to just replace all the seals I could reach from the outside and install it. Much to my delight, it shifts as smooth as silk thru all gears! So now I have this transmission that I removed which grinds going into 2nd and 3rd and will pop out of 2nd if you let off the gas. Can I get any cash for this one? How much? Should I save it for the (inevitable?) breakdown of the current tranny? Mike 1986 Vanagon GL "Wasserleaker"
