Really steep, too. However, despite being a California state highway, and in the mountains, the roadbed is wide with lots of turnouts. Very different from the road up to Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks from Fresno, which is similar in steepness, but is all switchbacks and almost no turnouts. doesn't go as high, but might be harder in a Westy than Tioga Pass.
